Volunteers welcome

From the St. Lucian Health Minister to the St. Jude executive team and medical staff, the message is clear: We want volunteers!

Outpatient, inpatient, emergency and surgical services have been established at the George Odlum National Stadium in Vieux Fort. Winter and spring volunteers reported that they had busy clinical schedules and were impressed with the quality of care being delivered in these temporary quarters.

Meanwhile, the reconstruction of St. Jude Hospital progresses quickly, on track for an opening in late 2011. Veteran volunteers will be impressed to see a redesigned campus with improved patient flow. Even the volunteer quarters is getting a major facelift. 

Potential volunteers should contact Lucilia Simon (stjudes@candw.lc) to learn which specialties are in greatest demand and where to turn for housing, transportation and other needs.

Preparing for your visit

Please contact HHV when you are planning to volunteer at St. Jude. We can help you connect with other volunteer families, facilitate contact with St. Jude staff, and answer your questions about the volunteer experience. Early communication allows you and your family's talents to be well used.
